Bender (Fonda) is the wife of a Marine captain (Dern) in the United States Army.
He is sent to Vietnam and Sally is left alone. With nothing else to do, she decides
to volunteer at a local veteran's hospital, where she meets Luke (Voigt), who
went to high school with her. Luke was wounded and is paralyzed and confined to
a wheelchair. When Sally begins to fall in love with him, she has to make a crucial
decision about her life. Coming
Home won three Oscars: Best Actress(Fonda) Best Actor (Voight) and Best Original
Screenplay (Nancy Dowd, Waldo Salt and Robert C. Jones) and was nominated in five
other categories. Fonda
and Voigt also took Golden Globes in the same categories, and the movie won many
international awards.
