Interviews

Reelin' in the Years

In 2008, Rainer Moddemann purchased a reel-to-reel tape in Germany, labelled as an 11'28" interview with Tim Buckley, taped on May 21, 1974. He got in touch with Tim's Estate and wrote:

"! bought it on a flea-market, where somebody sold a whole bunch of interview tapes from a radio station in Hamburg, Germany," he wrote. "I just copied this on a CD and I really wonder where this was taped--- it is not very interesting, but I am sure this was never used for a radio broadcast or a newspaper article. It is easy to be recognized, right at the very end the phone rings and Tim leaves the room. Do you have any idea where this was taped?"

In May 1974, Tim was in Europe promoting Sefronia and the date on the tape seems to coincide with the London taping of two songs for the BBC's The Old Grey Whistle Test.

Rainer was kind enough to pass on a copy of the tape and it can be heard below.
