(September
12, 2012) The "Greetings from Tim Buckley" world
premier was on Sunday, September 9 at the Toronto International
Film Festival
The
film has so far garnered generally favorable reviews -
see below - with critics and fans alike noting the strong
performance of Penn Badgley as Jeff Buckley.
"Greetings
from Tim Buckley follows the story of the days leading
up to Jeff Buckleys eminent 1991 performance at
his fathers tribute concert in St. Anns Church.
Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert,
he learns to embrace all of his feelings toward the father
who abandoned him longing, anger, forgiveness,
and love. Culminating in a cathartic performance of his
fathers most famous songs, Jeffs debut stuns
the audience and launches his career as one of the greatest
young musicians of his time."
The
Toronto International Film Festival bills itself as
"the leading public film festival in the world, screening
more than 300 films from 60+ countries every September."
